Are you about to start hen party planning? It is an exciting time and we bet that you can’t wait to get started! Yay! Before you head off booking accommodation and activities at the speed of light, take a minute to ask the bride the following questions to make sure you know what’s what.

Ask the bride to be for the guest list. Make sure you ask for their email addresses and phone numbers too so you can get in touch with them. This means you won’t have to bother the bride later in the game. She will have enough to think about planning a wedding!
Ask the bride for a per person budget. It’s a good idea for the bride to tell you what she’s comfortable asking her guests to spend. She knows their financial situation better than you. After all, you may not know half the guest list.
If she doesn’t have a clue, you could give her an idea of what you think it might cost per person. If you’ve been to a hen party before or you’ve done some research, you’ll probably have an idea of how much it’ll cost.
Does she want to have a couple of months or a couple of weeks between the hen party and the wedding? This is an important question to ask and something she might forget to consider! There might be a lot of last minute wedding planning she needs to do so she should keep this in mind when choosing a date.
Narrow it down to months that you think are suitable for the hen party. For example if the wedding is in September, you could suggest June, July, August.
You need to know who is planning the hen party with you so that you can make joint decisions and help each other out. It’ll most likely be other bridesmaids, family members or close friends. Don’t rule out the possibility the bride may want to be involved in the hen party planning.
Ask her this question to make sure you are being inclusive of everyone. It’s always a good idea to be diplomatic and make sure family members are happy if the bride is concerned. You could potentially prevent major drama down the line by asking this question.
At this point, she may give you a run down of her perfect hen party from start to finish. Easy peasy.
Or, on the other hand she might not really know. If this is the case, the next few questions should help you out.
A really important consideration. Once you know the answer to this question, compare her expectations with the hen party budget. You want to make sure her budget is realistic. If it’s not, go back to the bride and ask whether she would like to up the budget or change her plans. It’s her choice.
If so, does she want to travel abroad with the whole guest list or just with a select few? If she wants a hen party abroad, does she want another send off in the UK with guests who couldn’t afford the hen do abroad?
Does she want to be involved in the hen party planning? Or has she got too much on her plate to think about planning another event?
Make sure you know whether she would like it to be a complete surprise so that you can let all your guests know. It can be difficult for everyone to keep surprises but if you let everyone know early on, it’s less likely the cat will be let out of the bag.
Another important consideration, does the bride to be want a theme?
If she does, a fun idea is to theme the whole hen party.
For example if she wants an Alice In Wonderland Theme Hen Party, you could book a themed house, get fancy dress costumes and have an Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea!
