If you’re a complete wedding newbie, you may be wondering what’s your role in all of this. Well, we’re afraid there’s no ‘one size fits all’. That is, it comes down to what the couple wants. Some couples don’t want any help with their wedding plans. Some do.

If you have been a bridesmaid before, planned a wedding yourself or just love weddings, you will know how you can help out with wedding planning. You know where your strengths lie. Here are 5 examples of how you could offer to help out:

‘I have mad bunting making skills – if you want me to make you some for your wedding, let me know’.
‘I know this amazing wedding blog – I think you would love it.’
‘I have all this confetti left over from my wedding – you can have it if you want’.
‘I have a stack of old wedding magazines that I am finished with – do you want them?’
‘I researched everything there is to know about flowers when I got married! I know A LOT about which flowers are in season when you are getting married. Let me know if you want me to talk you through your options.’

As you can see, you don’t have to offer to design the bride’s gown or make the wedding cake to be helpful Small gestures go a long way.

Yeah but seriously how can I help with wedding planning? At this point, you may be thinking something along these lines:

‘What can I do? I haven’t even been to a wedding before!’
‘I can’t sew bunting! Are you crazy?!’

Let’s be honest. The last example is a win win situation. Such a selfless act but someone’s got to taste the wedding cake! You can see how you don’t have to offer the earth to help out. After all your life doesn’t need to go on hold just because your friend is getting married. It’s all about balance. That being said…

Wedding planning isn’t for everyone. You may not be the slightest bit interested in planning a wedding. That’s what wedding planners are for right? If this is how you feel, that’s okay! Yes you heard right…

Not everyone needs to get involved in the wedding planning. After all, the couple may not want any help. They may have it all in hand. Or you may just be far too busy / live far away / etc to help out. That’s okay. Just let your bestie know how excited you are for the big day! They’ll appreciate the thought.
