You want to throw your friend an amazing hen party, right? Well you need to make sure you’re making decisions and getting things booked. It’s useful to assign tasks to each other and set deadlines in order to make progress.

Delegating Isn’t Always A Necessary Step To Take.

If you’re a group of old friends, delegating may not be as important. You know each other well. You know each other’s strengths. The likelihood is you’ll take on responsibilities and roles automatically. This means you’ll come to a decision together more easily. That being said, if you have similar strengths, it is important to delegate to make sure everything gets done.

So How Should You Go About Delegating?

An important and helpful step to take is to ask the bride whether she’d like one person to be in charge.*

For example, she could suggest her sister. If this is the case, you know all decisions will probably go through her.

Follow The Leader

If you’ve been chosen as the official ‘Head Hen Party Planner’, it’s helpful for you to start the delegating process. So ask your fellow hen party planners who would like to do what.

What Needs To Get Done?

Here is a list of tasks you may need to consider when planning a hen party:

Finding and booking accommodation
Finding and booking activities
Finding and booking a restaurant or a caterer
Ordering hen party decorations and accessories
Collecting money off guests
Paying all hen party suppliers
Contacting guests
Organizing hen party games and final touches
Placing an online food shop
Cooking dinner / breakfast / lunch

This list is not exhaustive. It really depends on the kind of hen party you are planning. You may want to add more or remove some of the above tasks.

What’s Your Skill Set?

Rather than automatically assuming someone will take on a certain job, see who’d like to help with what. Everyone has a different skill set and will be best suited to a specific role. The trick is to bunch job roles together.

For example, if someone is happy to cook at the hen party, it would make sense for that person to place the online food shop.
If someone is creative and good at coming up with game and decoration ideas, you know where they can help.
If another person is really organized, ask them to create a timeline for the weekend to plan out what you’re doing when.

That being said, there may not be anyone placed in charge of planning the hen party. That’s okay. Don’t panic! Someone may take the lead if they’re naturally organised and enjoy party planning. Or you may have planned a hen party before so know what you’re talking about.

If no one takes the lead, you’ll have to come to a decision together. Either discuss this over email, Skype or if you live nearby, meet up in person. Make joint decisions about who should do what and work out deadlines together.
