Real Hen Party: An Era of Experience

Manchester based vintage company, An Era of Experience have shared a nautical theme 1940s hen party with us today. We love the idea of mixing themes like this to get the best of both worlds. The hen party turned up to their vintage hen do head to toe in sailor stripes in blue, red and white. They enjoyed a day of retro fun from vintage afternoon tea to learning how to make a fascinator. Over to Era of Experience as they explain what made their bride to be, Ellen’s day so special…

When chief hen organiser Rachel contacted us to book her Era of Experience hen party, she knew our parties would be exactly what vintage-mad bride to be Ellen would love. They booked an afternoon of crafting, afternoon tea and vintage makeovers hosted at The Vintage Beauty Parlour in Manchester.

Our hens choose to have a nautical 1940s theme complete with plenty of pretty decorations from HenBox. You can see everyone arrived wearing red, white and blue and of course stripes with window decorations to match.

The hen party spent two hours crafting bespoke head wear under the guidance of our experts from Silver Sixpence In Her Shoe. Choosing from an array of vintage laces, ribbons, jewels and pretty shiny things, each hen created their own headpiece. This talented bunch made some seriously impressive pieces during the headwear workshop.

Then came Afternoon Tea, a sweet interlude between workshops. Baked by And The Dish ran Away With The Spoon, they served their lovely cakes, scones and brownies on pretty vintage china provided by vintage company, For The Love of Vintage.

Next up, the hen party discovered the secret to styling perfect 1940s victory rolls in their makeover workshop with Bethany Jane Davies, owner of The Vintage Beauty Parlour. Here is our gorgeous bride to be, Ellen after her makeover. Complete with perfect victory rolls and a very stylish sailor hat.

Our hens wanted fun but stylish hen party accessories to decorate their party with so enlisted the help of online specialists Henbox.co.uk.  Accessories includes pretty pinwheel decorations hung at every window and a blue HEN balloon. We had such a great time at this fun nautical 1940s themed party and so did our hens. Happy days.
