A Somerset Hen Party | Real Hen Party By Hunters & Heels

We are so excited to share with you today a rather special Somerset hen party. Organised by the lovely Lauren of Hunters & Heels, this hen do is stuffed full of charming details & pretty touches {i mean, those cookies!}. Most importantly this hen do features a group of happy hens that look they are having the most fun celebrating with their bride to be.

Lauren worked so hard to send her friend Carrie off in style & oh boy did she achieve it. This hen has it all … a dreamy country cottage, pretty blooms & flower crowns, fun hen party games and so many thoughtful details. So keep on reading to discover how Lauren organised this beautiful Somerset hen party.

First Things First… Hen Party Invitations!

I mean how pretty are these hen party invitations? We absolutely adore them!

Lauren sourced her hen party invitations from the clever folks at Papier & not only did they set out the date and venue for the hen do but they also included an itinerary.

As Lauren says, “simple, understated and as always, gorgeous Papier quality.”

So Where Did They Stay?

The hens stayed at Gardeners Arms Cottage in Somerset – a 200 year old cottage with views of the Mendip Hills and a garden full of flowers {& a hot tub!}. Sounds dreamy!

The cottage accommodates 14 hens across 5 bedrooms & has recently been completely refurbished. Although this rural cottage feels remote it is only 30 minutes to Bristol and 45 minutes to Bath.

A Girl’s Night In

On the first night of the hen do the ladies enjoyed a girly night in complete with dinner, fizz and hen party games. Lauren served Prosecco and nibbles on arrival and once everyone was settled in it was time for a fantastic Italian feast.

Lauren’s Hen Party Tip #1: Order an online shop to arrive at your hen party venue with everything that you will need for the weekend.

After dinner the hens played some hen party games – a great way to break the ice and get to know each other! The hens played an absolute hen party classic – Loo Roll Wedding Dress. The hens also played Make Your Own Manhood where teams were given modelling clay to sculpt their own *ahem* manhood ornaments & suffice to say the ladies were in stiches!

A Day Of Relaxation, Pampering & Flower Crowns!

Saturday morning started with a big breakfast of eggs, bacon, avocado, pastries and fruit, all washed down with Bucks Fizz and Coffee.

As a group of busy mums, the hens decided that they wanted to simply relax & enjoy the time off from their littles. So they enjoyed a Saturday of pamper time in the cottage’s hot tub. Heavenly!

They did however find time to craft a rather impressive homemade flower crown. This whimiscally pretty flower crown was crafted from Bloom & Wild’s Charlie Bouquet. The ladies simply made a loop from some floristry wire and attached the stems using floristry tape.

Lauren’s Hen Party Tip #2 – Dry out your flower crown after then hen do for a wonderful souvenier. What a lovely keepsake for the bride.

An Evening of Cocktails, Dinner & More Games!

Saturday night began the way that all good hen parties should – with cocktails! Hens Aimee and Dawn took on mixology responsibilities and whipped up some lovely looking cocktails. Well done ladies!

Dinner was hosted at the beautiful Ethicurean restaurant which is situated within a gorgeous walled garden. Prosecco was served on arrival followed by a delicious dinner prepared from seasonal produce.

Lauren says, “the restaurant team dressed the table beautifully with fresh flowers and herbs from the garden and plenty of candles. It was a gorgeous evening, sat chatting and eating under the stars. Fabulous service. I would highly recommend it!”

After dinner ladies headed back to the cottage to play some more hen party games {Lauren is a woman after our hearts!}. This time the game was Guess Who Said That – Lauren’s favourite part of the weekend.

Lauren gave each person a goodie bag for the weekend {see more below in ‘Delightful Details’}. Each goodie bag contained two pieces of paper, each with a question on:

  • What do you love most about Carrie?
  • What should Carrie not say to her new husband on their wedding night?

All the hens wrote their responses and on the Saturday night each guest read someone else’s answer for the Bride-to-be to guess who said it. Lovely.

Delightful Details!

As we mentioned at the beginning of this post, Lauren included a whole host of delightful details to surprise the bride. We strongly recommend adding some thoughtful details to your hen party – your bride to be will love them.

Our favourite details were the personalised gift bags {containing water, snacks, paracetamol, face mask} and the gorgeous hen party biscuits from Lady Bakewell Park.
