When we spotted these incredibly intricate and beautiful fairy cakes on Instagram, we knew we had to found out who made them! The search was soon over as Emily of Emily Spillman Cakes soon got in touch and told us her lovely story about how our napkins inspired her table decorations and cupcake design at her friend’s hen party. Over to Emily…
My name is Emily and I created a colourful vintage tea party for my very good friend Elli. As Maid of Honour, I wanted to make Elli’s hen party really special. When deciding what to do for Elli’s hen party I came across HenBox and fell in love with all of their hen party accessories. I must admit I went a bit mad and bought the beautiful watercolour floral napkins and bunting, the canape food flags and the photobooth kit and a few other bits and pieces.
As you can see I took my inspiration for the cupcakes from HenBox’s floral festival range. All of the cupcake decorations are made by hand and hand painted! Some of them even had 24ct gold leaf on them (BLING)! The cupcakes were rich dark chocolate flavour with a white chocolate Italian meringue buttercream. These were part of the afternoon tea I prepared with a few bottles of prosecco.
We then put on our sewing hats and made hair accessories to wear in the evening from fabrics I have collected and bought especially. I also made everyone a personalised rosette instead of the traditional sashes and everyone loved them.
In the evening we went for a lavish 3 course meal with lots of Prosecco and wine and had lots of fun with the photobooth kit!
