A Glamorous Glam Hatter’s Hen Party

Today we welcome the lovely Janie from Glam Hatter’s Tea Parties to the blog. Glam Hatter’s Tea Parties provides fabulously fun fascinator workshops across the UK. Recently Janie hosted the fun filled hen party of bride to be Laura and knew it was one to feature on the HenBox blog.

This hen do is perfect inspiration for all crafty hens. Over to Janie!

Laura and 21 of her friends and family came to Glam Hatters’ Tea Parties for a fascinator making workshop. Their workshop was held in our gorgeous venue in Exmouth Market, London.

You can see from the pictures they were a very creative gang. I knew I’d love them from the moment they arrived as one of them had made cup cakes and carried them in, in a Spider Man lunch box. When I asked how old her son was she told me the lunch box belonged to her boyfriend…. and that he’s a Doctor!!!

They went for the two and a half hour Luxury Vintage Fascinator Making Workshop with a break for vintage afternoon tea. Each hen chose from a huge range of coloured fascinator bases and our Glam Hatters’ teachers showed them how to make a headpiece using luxury feathers, beading, vintage buttons, millinery materials and veiling.

We have masses of colours to choose from so a lot of the girls matched their fascinators to their wedding outfits. Some of the girls brought fabric swatches to make sure their fascinators would look fabulous at the wedding.

This workshop is perfect for all levels of experience even if you’ve never picked up a needle in your life as The Glam Hatters’ teachers taught the girls step-by-step helping them to create a stunning vintage inspired headpieces.

The girls brought their own afternoon tea and we supplied our vintage china (free of charge) to make it look gorgeous. They came to our venue in Exmouth Market near Angel and Farringdon tube. (Great access for the West End or Upper Street). It’s a vibrant street full of individual cafes and boutiques and is well worth a visit.

If you visit our Glam Hatters’ blog we have lots of information about lovely places in Exmouth Market where you can go for dinner or cocktails after your fascinator party.

You can see from the pictures that they had a super fun time and made some fabulous fascinators. All of them agreed that it was a brilliant hen party idea!

Here’s what happened after their fascinator making hen party workshop, in Letty’s own words (Laura’s wonderful friend who organised the hen party)…..

“From the Tea Party we went to The Happenstance on Ludgate Hill. We had some cocktails and then went to their private dining room for dinner before which we were served lots of Prosecco by 2 ‘Butlers in the Buff’ (hunky men with not much on for the initiated!).

After dinner we played ‘Mr & Mrs’ where the hen got a worrying number of questions wrong! For each question she got wrong she got an IOU to her fiance (a mix of things from ‘IOU x 1 massage’ to ‘IOU all the washing up for a month’).

To be fair the questions were quite difficult…We also presented her with an album of photos and memories we had put together before the day. There were a few tears, mostly from laughing at all the old photos the girls had put in. I think she was really happy to have a lasting token from the day ( as well as her fascinator of course!)

After dinner, we had more cocktails in the bar. The plan was to head to the Light Bar in Shoreditch but instead we headed back to the flat and put on music and danced in the living room! Sore heads the next day but definitely worth it!”
